Nancy Drew Convention 2012 – Update #3

22 Mar

Goldfield Ghost Town

Another amazing day in Shadow Ranch land! We visited Goldfield Ghost Town for a sleuthing activity inspired by the Amazing Race, after which we divided up. Some of us went horseback riding, others explored an old mine or took a train ride. Following lunch, we hopped back on the bus and drove to Canyon Lake, where we took a cruise on the Dolly Steamboat and enjoyed the breathtaking scenery of the canyons, home to bald eagles and a few big horn sheep. After the cruise we went book hunting in an antique mall and rounded out the day with dinner and a western show at the Rockin’ R Ranch. I’m an exhausted but very happy sleuth!

Oh my goodness, you are a busy sleuth. Are those activities typical for the area you’re visiting, or were they instilled as part of the convention?

They’re part of the convention, organized by our fearless leader Jenn, who has been doing these since the beginning, and is so good at it. Now the actual conference will begin, with presentations during the next three days. I don’t think I’ve ever enjoyed a conference more!

This sounds like so much fun: exploration, wildlife, food, and books. It’s perfect!

I know, huh? I think I’ve died and gone to heaven. Bury me in Arizona!

Talk to me ;)
