I’m not a Debby Downer. I never whine about my problems for hours on end for attention or sympathy. I have a tremendous amount of gratitude and appreciation for my many blessings in life … my family, my home, my friends and all the dogs and cats it’s been my honor to know. But sometimes there’s nothing like a a good bitch session to make you feel better.
Because I’m a writer, I like to journal about the small irritations in life. I’ve read the book “Don’t Sweat the Small Stuff” and loved it, but find it very hard to do. The act of writing something down on paper (or typing it onto a computer screen) helps me release the anxieties related to small, stupid shit (or ‘sss’ as I like to call it) so I can let it go and move on with my day.
So Grumpy Blog is a place for me to do that. And there’s an inherent humor in life’s little trials that draws me in. I believe it’s human nature to complain once in a while and misery loves company. Like the train wreck on television you are mesmerized by, its hard to turn away from bad news. In fact, I’m not even sure I like people who are too cheerful. Chirpy people can be irritating, especially when you’re in a grumpy mood.
